Google Developers Student Club is a university-based community group for students who are interested in technology, especially students under the computing faculty.
GDSC isn't always about "programming" but also about connecting, learning, and growing together. It is the right place for boosting one's career by networking.
There will be activities in the club like Microblogs, workshops, challenges, social projects, Tiny Hackathon, and accelerated courses/talks. The talk might be about Career paths, flutter, data science, firebase for web development, and other more in computing.
The club has been officially inaugurated on Sunday (Feb. 05, 2023) with the support of Bezawork Tilahun Mindaye and collaborative students.
It will have a physical existence at Jan-Moscov Library, first floor, BiT-CDC.

BiT-Career Development Center has delivered training for academic staff

As a community service, BiT-Career Development Center has delivered first round training for BiT academic staff from February 24 to 26, 2023 at Jan-Moscov Library.
The training is titled "Facilitation skill, Foundational skill, Voluntarism, Networking skill and self-branding”.
The training is delivered by Mr. Habtamu Alemayehu, Lydia Kitaw(MD) and Kalkidan Esayas (PhD). The center has received training regarding the topics right from the Ministry of Labour and Skills as a master trainer program. There were about 20 trainees for the first round and 30+ are expected to attend the second round.
According to the Coordinator's Explanation, the aim of the training is to capacitate academic staff through delivering ToT and engage with the center.
Contents like facilitator's engagement pyramid,adult learning principles, difference between training and facilitation, Experiential Learning cycle, facilitator map, facilitation techniques, competence of facilitator, challenges of facilitator, learning skills, literacy skill, life skill, positive self-concept, self-control, communication skill, causes of conflict, teamwork, adaptability, flexibility, higher order thinking skills, types of voluntarism, important of voluntarism, Voluntarism in Ethiopia's perspective, challenge of volunteers, ways of promoting voluntarism, how to build own network, importance of personal branding, ways of strengthening brand, choosing platforms, establish your value and creating social media plan are included with in three days discussions.
Finally, the Coordinator requested trainees to volunteer and exercise their technical and soft skills for BiT students at the center.
