👉One of the services provided at BiT Career Development Center is the Representatives' Forum.
👉The third event was held by today with Mr. Tamru Delelegn, Psychology Department from peda Campus.
👉He discussed the importance of Emotional Intelligence for career success. He has started his speech mentioning different intelligence namely Spiritual, Spacial, Emotional, Physical and IQ. He said IQ has been over-marketed and depends on culture of the society as well. Saying this he goes dive to Emotional Intelligence and its content.
👉According to the presenter,EQ can be illustrated in four main streams called Self awareness, Social Awareness, Self management and Relationship Management. He has mentioned with some bad examples that leads us a critical turnout in career path.
👉There were more questions raised from participants that can create clarity with the ideas and contents of the presentation.

The BiT-BDU Career Development Center (CDC) hosted a Career Week event for Faculty of Civil and Water Resource Engineering students.

Mr. Habtamu Alemayehu, coordinator of BiT-CDC, welcomed the participants and provided an overview of the Center. According to his presentation, BiT-BDU-CDC has been serving students who have joined the center for free, with the goal of empowering and preparing them for their future careers and personal life. He also stated as Career Week is one of the services offered by the BiT-Career Development Center.
Following Mr. Tatek Yenehun has delivered presentation on this event for FCWRE students with the title of "The people serving profession-Civil Engineering, the missing elements of curriculum and its therapy". The reasons for gaps in Civil Engineering, the deficiencies of the curriculum, its therapy, and the knowledge and skills components of the profession have all been discussed by his presentation. Even though the industry requires skills, the education system has remained unchanged for the past 50 years, and in the absence of industry feedback, gaps in the profession have grown wider. As a curriculum flaw: he has stated that the educational system fails to train the human brain in effective practical sessions, all-inclusive topics, and undefined application areas.
As a therapy, Mr. Tatek introduced the importance of having flexibility in the curriculum due to the skills required for any job are constantly changing, the transition from chalk and talk to act and visit, the importance of site visits, and existential learning. Later, he stated that communication skills, self-learning, creativity, programming, problem-solving, and teamwork are the most important soft skills for civil engineers in today's industries.
Similarly, BiT Trading has promised to provide a mentorship program for volunteers.
Finally, the event concluded with a question and answer session with the participants.
