🇸🇦🇪🇹 Human Rights Watch accused Saudi guards of killing hundreds of Ethiopians

Human Rights Watch has accused Saudi Arabian border guards of systematically killing hundreds of Ethiopian economic migrants trying to cross from Yemen.

They say at least 655 people have been killed by guards since early last year. Some were shot, others killed or maimed by explosive weapons.

The organisation accused Saudi Arabia, after the UN made similar allegations last year.

Human Rights Watch has called the killings widespread and systematic, and says they could amount to crimes against humanity.

In March, the Saudi government categorically rejected any suggestion that its forces were involved in cross-border killings.

🇸🇩🇸🇦 Sudanese army, paramilitary RSF to return to Jeddah negotiations

Sudan's army and paramilitary Rapid Support Forces will return to the negotiating table in Jeddah on Thursday, senior U.S. State Department officials said, as a six-month of war.

The Sudanese army said on Wednesday it accepted the invitation as "negotiations are one of the means that may end the conflict," but that it would not stop fighting. The RSF did not immediately have a statement, but on Wednesday published video of its second-in-command leading soldiers in Nyala, a major war zone.

"Both sides privately indicated that they are ready to resume talks," said one of the U.S. officials, adding that months of fighting and a humanitarian crisis had weighed on both sides.

Military sources say the army has struggled to make repairs to aging warplanes while the RSF has struggled to treat wounded soldiers.

🇸🇦 Saudi Arabia's Oil Export Revenues Hit Three-Year Low

Saudi Arabia's oil export revenues have plummeted to their lowest point in three years, a result of declining oil prices and the nation's strategic decision to curb production.

Revenue from crude oil and petroleum products dropped to $17.7 billion in June, according to data from the country's primary statistics agency. This marks a 9% decrease compared to the same period last year and a 12% reduction from May.

Oil income remains a cornerstone of Saudi Arabia's economy, playing a crucial role in supporting Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman's ambitious plans to diversify the economy through massive investments in sectors ranging from electric vehicles to semiconductors and soccer.

As a consequence of the reduced oil revenues, the kingdom has been forced to either delay or scale back several of its most significant projects, including elements of the expansive new desert city, Neom.
