🇷🇼 HRW accuses Rwanda of murders and kidnappings of dissidents abroad
The NGO Human Rights Watch (HRW) accused the Rwandan authorities of being responsible for murders, beatings and kidnappings of dissidents abroad, and called on the international community to fight against this "extraterritorial repression ".
“The combination of physical violence, including killings and enforced disappearances, surveillance, misuse of law enforcement - both domestic and international - abuses against relatives in Rwanda constitute clear efforts to isolate potential critics,” it says.
“The findings highlight that Rwanda is not a country the UK should rely upon to uphold international standards or the rule of law when it comes to asylum seekers,” it added.
The report has been published as the UK's Supreme Court hears the British government’s appeal against a ruling blocking its plans to deport asylum seekers to Rwanda.
Rwanda denies the allegations.

🇨🇩🇷🇼 DR Congo accuses rebels and Rwanda of hindering poll
The DR Congo is warning that around 1.5 million voters living in areas controlled by the M23 rebel group will be unable to take part in elections in December.
Government spokesperson said they were in the process of resettling an additional one million people displaced by conflict in the region.
He added that it might be difficult for the electoral commission to access areas under "M23 and Rwanda" adding that calling off the election was not an option.
DR Congo has previously accused Rwanda of backing the M23 rebel group - a charge that Rwanda has consistently denied. The M23 is largely made up of ethnic Tutsis, the same group which dominates the government in Rwanda.
The M23 rebel group is in control of Rutshuru and parts of Masisi in North Kivu province.

🇨🇩🇷🇼🇪🇺 DR Congo's president accuses Rwanda of looting with EU support
The president of the Democratic Republic of Congo said he was open to a dialogue with his Rwandan counterpart for peace but lashed out against an agreement recently signed between Rwanda and the European Union on mining.
“It’s a provocation in very bad taste,” said President Felix Tshisekedi.
Tshiseked alleged Rwanda was plundering Congo's mineral resources.
He criticized an agreement signed between the EU and Rwanda earlier this week linked to the strengthening of their cooperation in the mining sector, particularly with regard to critical raw materials such as tantalum.
Rwanda should not export wealth that it does not have, he said.
With the proceeds of these illicit sales, they will equip their armies and continue their ambitions in the Congo, he added.

🔦🇲🇿 — South African Mission in Mozambique continues withdrawing.
💡#SAMIM is a joint force of countries from the #SADC (South African Development Cooperation), comprising of South Africa, Botswana, Lesotho, Tanzania, Angola, Zambia, Malawi, DRC and Namibia.
💡The force started withdrawing the 5th of April with the first contingent to leave being Botswana, followed by South Africa, and no later than yesterday left Zambia and Angola, Lesotho is in the process of getting their soldiers out of Cabo Delgado, the rest of contingents will be gone by July 16th 2024.
💡#Tanzania, #SouthAfrica and #Rwanda however pledged to either send another contingent or keep the one present in their place to fill the power vacuum.
💡The disappointment in #Mozambique is notable because of the lack of effect the alliance had in Cabo Delgado where the insurgency hasn't slowed down and funding has been extremely low.
