🇲🇽🇺🇸Mexico president asks Biden to stop USAID funding opposition groups

Mexico's president asked his U.S. counterpart Joe Biden to stop the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) from funding groups hostile to his government, according to a letter presented to journalists on Wednesday.

🗣"The U.S. government, specifically though USAID, has for some time been financing organizations openly against the legal and legitimate government I represent," he said in the letter.

"This is clearly an interventionist act, contrary to international law and the relations which should prevail between free and sovereign states."

The letter calls for Biden's intervention, saying the U.S. State Department in recent days announced that USAID would increase its funding toward such organizations.

🇲🇽🇺🇸 Mexico president urges US Latinos not to give DeSantis 'even one vote'

Mexico's President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador has urged US Latino voters not to support Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who launched his bid to oust President Joe Biden with a promise to "shut down" the border.

🗣"I hope Florida's Hispanics wake up and don't give him [DeSantis] even one vote," Lopez Obrador said at his daily news conference on Thursday.

"I also take this opportunity to tell Mr DeSantis, who yesterday, as you can see, I wasn't wrong that all his politicking over migrants was because he wanted to be the Republican Party's candidate," he added.

🇺🇸🇨🇳🇵🇾China issues rebuke to U.S., Taiwan over vice president's New York 'stopover

Beijing has rebuked Taiwanese Vice President William Lai as a "troublemaker" over his visit to the United States on his way to Paraguay and accused his administration of using the trip to "solicit" U.S. support for independence.

🗣"China deplores and strongly condemns the U.S. decision to arrange the so-called stopover for Lai Ching-te. Lai clings stubbornly to the separatist position for 'Taiwan independence'. He is a troublemaker through and through," China's foreign ministry spokesperson said.

The spokesperson added that China "firmly opposes any form of official interaction" between the United States and Taiwan.

🇺🇸 The U.S. cities Biden is flying hundreds of thousands of migrants in controversial program that sparked national security fears

The vast majority of migrant flights President Joe Biden's White House is transporting directly from foreign countries to U.S. airports to bypass the southern border are landing in Florida.

A new analysis from the Center for Immigration Studies (CIS) reveals that 326,000 migrants from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua and Venezuela arrived in Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis' state since the program started in January 2023.

Lawyers for Biden's immigration agencies refused to disclose through a FOIA request data on which airports were receiving the undocumented migrants, claiming it would compromise safety and create national security 'vulnerabilities.'

🇨🇳🇺🇸 China becomes the world leader in 90% of critical technologies

Research by the Australian Strategic Policy Institute, ASPI shows

In 20 years, China has swapped places with the United States, which once reigned supreme in the technology sector.

In 2003–2007, China was the leader in just three of 64 technologies, but is now the leader in 57 of 64 technologies (for the period 2019–2023), increasing its lead compared to the 2018–2022 ranking, where it was the leader in 52 technologies.

The United States led in 60 of 64 technologies from 2003 to 2007, but has led in only seven over the past five years (2019–2023).

It is clear that the US has not been able to maintain its historical technological advantage over the past 20 years. Yes, the US still leads in some areas, but US technological hegemony is a thing of the past.

China is catching up quickly through massive investments in its own technologies and the creation of highly efficient institutions.

Even if the US were to launch a national technology campaign on the scale of the space race of the 1960s, it would take about 20 years to catch up. #China #US #tech #industry
