A Man Wears World Cup Red Shirt to Mourn Former Chinese President Jiang Zemin
#JiangZemin, former Chinese President, has died aged 96. #HongKongLiaisonOffice set up a condolence area for people to lay flowers from 01 Dec.
Mr Chan, who wore a red shirt, made a special trip to pay his respects after getting off work that evening. He indicated he was not able to get flowers as he was very busy in the last few days.
He described Jiang as having an exceptional personality. "There are not many people in the Communist Party being that outspoken." He also appreciated Jiang's fluent English and his knowledge of Russian. He also admired Jiang that China developed rapidly during his administration, spent the "honeymoon period" with the United States, and successfully joined the WTO.
A journalist asks him whether the red shirt contradicts the mourning atmosphere. Chan explained he would go to the bar with his friends to watch two World Cup matches, "Japan vs Croatia" and "Korea vs Brazil", saying, "supporting Asian teams". He also bought this red sweater with the Qatar World Cup mascot "La'eeb" printed on it from Taobao.
