All of the battles of the Prophet ﷺ were decided on the battlefield, and he forbade Muslims from targeting women, children, the elderly, and all other non-combatants. This was revolutionary at the time, it has been revolutionary throughout history, and, as is clear from what we are all watching in the news, it is still revolutionary today. The principles that the Prophet ﷺ taught us were extended by the fuqaha to the changing methods of warfare in medieval times, when armies began using catapults and seige-engines, and I draw out the implications into the modern warfare of missibles, bombs, and weapons of mass-destruction. May Allah Most High inspire one of our leaders to take the example of the Prophet ﷺ to the world and to put an end to the senseless destruction.

In light of current events, Paul Williams invited me to discuss the theological history of Twelver Shiism from the time of the Companions until the Iranian Revolution in 1979. A key take-away is that the core difference between Sunnism and Twelver Shiism from which all other differences follow is the belief in the Imamate and the Hidden Imam, and both lack historical evidence.

I recently traveled to Qatar for a Doha Debates conversation about extraterrestrial life. I enjoyed talking to David Grinspoon (astrobiologist from NASA), Nick Pope (UFO investigator from the UK Department of Defense), and Matthias Determann (historian from the University of Virginia Commonwealth University). There is nothing in the Quran and Sunna that rules out the existence of alien life. In fact, there are verses in the Quran that seem to suggest its existence, and many classical scholars have believed that it did, in fact exist. But if alien life does exist, then human beings still have a special role in the universe. I am excited to announce my upcoming visit to Mauritius. By the grace of Allah, a group of dāʿees, teachers, and scholars have already brought Why-Islam-is-True on-the-ground in Mauritius some years ago. I am looking forward to meeting them and working with them to help the Muslim community of Mauritius protect the iman of their future generations and spread the truth of Islam to their non-Muslim neighbours and friends.

Yesterday I attended the graduation ceremony of 333 memorizers of the Quran at the Camlica Mosque, the largest mosque in Turkiye. All of the graduates wore keffiyes with Palestinian and Turkish flags and the entire program was interspersed with du'as for Palestine.

The program concluded with a khutba delivered by a bright young graduates from ITO-Marmara Imam Hatip School. He delivered his beautiful khutba in fluent Arabic, then in fluent English, then in fluent Japanese, then in fluent Turkish. May Allah Most High reward the organizers, may He bless this wonderful country, and may He strengthen and protect the ummah of the Prophet ﷺ all over the world.
