#POSTDOCTORAL FELLOW POSITION School of #Civil and #Environmental #Engineering, #Georgia_Institute_of_Technology. We have an immediate opening for a postdoctoral fellow. The position’s primary area of research will focus on origami engineering with emphasis on #metamaterials, #adaptive_structures, #optimization, and #additive_manufacturing. Expertise is particularly sought in rapid prototyping, #multiphysics modeling, and #nonlinear #multiscale #finite_element_analysis and #design. The initial appointment is for one year with potential to extend, subject to the availability of funds. The candidate will have a lot of intellectual freedom and is expected to be a self-motivated, independent thinker, and possess a proven record of high-quality publications.

• Fluid structural interaction for simulation of infusion and curing coupling of composite manufacturing

A fully supported Ph.D. position is open in the Advanced Hierarchical Materials by Design Lab at Louisiana Tech University on #multiscale modeling of additively manufactured parts and processes. During this project, the candidate will have the opportunity to collaborate with #NASA research centers and national labs.

The candidates must have earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering or related fields (applicants with an MSc will be given priority) and have a solid background in theoretical and computational mechanics/materials science. Having knowledge of continuum mechanics, finite element modeling, #molecular dynamics #simulations, and a #programming language is a plus.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have a #PhD in a relevant discipline (Engineering Mechanics, Mechanical Engineering, #Aerospace Engineering, Mathematics), and an established track record evident by publication in top quality journals. Expertise in one or more of the following areas is a must:
topology optimization, mechanics of #cellular #materials, #finite element #analysis, theoretical/#computational #multiscale mechanics of solid, and continuum mechanics.

· applicant name and contact information,

· a curriculum vitae including list of publications, awards, with potential start date,

· Short statement of previous work and a description of your vision and your research plan

We currently have one opening for postdoc position at the Unviersity of Manitoba, Canada in the area of multiscale modeling on High-#entropy #alloys and #functional #graded #materials.

Supervisors: Dr. Nan Wu and Dr. Chuang Deng (nan.wu@umanitoba.ca, chuang.deng@umanitoba.ca)

Fellowship: 33000 CAD/year with 2 year period

Requirements:

1 ) The candidate should hold a Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering or Materials Sciences before or in January 2020;

2 ) Has good communication skills (both writing and oral) in English;

3 ) Be familiar with #molecular #dynamics #modelling and #simulation;

4 ) Has experiences of multi-scale modelling and/or functional grade materials and #structures.
