Postdoc position is available at #DTU Wind #Energy, the Section for #Composite Mechanics and Structures.
The position is in the framework of Innovation Foundation project “DURALEDGE/ Durable leading edges for high tip speed wind# turbine #blades".
Responsibilities and tasks
- development of computational models to evaluate various protective coatings of the wind turbine blades, with view of their lifetime and rain #erosion resistance,
- #numerical modelling of microscale degradation and #fatigue of wind turbine blade coatings under multiple liquid impacts, using finite element software Abaqus and #Python #programming language.
Location: Roskilde, Denmark.
Duration: 15 months

A fully funded PhD position is open immediately at the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture (MSFEA) at the American University of Beirut (AUB) for outstanding candidates in computational and experimental materials discovery for application at energy storage devices such engineering novel energy materials into high-energy rechargeable #batteries. We are particularly interested in candidates who demonstrate strong #numerical skills combined with hands on #electrochemical expertise.
The successful candidate must have a MSc. in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent on the relevant to the #modeling of materials. The evidence of previous high quality scholarly output is a plus. Salary is competitive and will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience.

Under the supervision of an experienced research scientist, the intern will be expected to define, execute and interpret the results of lab #experiments and/or perform #numerical #simulations.
Qualifications
PhD candidates in materials science and engineering, or mechanical engineering with a strong fundamental understanding of materials science and mechanics of materials. Preferred candicate should have metallugry or ceramic composites backgound in at least one of the following fields:
Knowledge and hands on experience on material characterization, #metallurgy, #mechanics of materials and mechanical #testing,#thermal #stress measurement and mitigation.
Knowledge on structure-property correlation of #metal #alloys and #ceramic materials.
Experience with material characterization techiniques such as #SEM, #EDX, #DSC, #TMA, #Instron, #optical imaging, metallurgical sample preparion for #microstructure evaluation.
Numerical simulation experience on mechanics of materials, residual stresses and thermal analysis is a plus.
Independent research experience and good problem-solving skills.
