First national park opened for visitors π
- Yellowstone certainly existed before March 1, 1872, the day it was declared the first national park in the U.S. But you couldnβt probably couldnβt buy souvenir socks that look like bears before then. Thanks to Ulysses S. Grant, the park has since hosted millions of tourists, astounding them with its natural beauty and strange assortment of branded merchandise.
And theyβve been repaying the love with millions of photos, including gorgeous images in full bloom.

- Even if you know a lot of Disney trivia, you might assume that the honor of first animated feature film belongs to Walt Disneyβs 1937 movie Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. But 20 years earlier, a full-length animated feature film was made in Argentina.
It was a political satire called El ApΓ³stol made up of 58,000 drawings and had a running time of 70 minutes, according to the Guinness Book of World Records.

- September 4, 1957, was the first day of class at Central High School in Little Rock, Arkansas, but this first day was unlike any the school had known previously. The previously all-white school was becoming the first integrated school after the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in Brown v. Board of Education that segregation was unconstitutional.

Specifically, itβs named after Sam German, who in 1852 created the formula for a mild dark baking chocolate bar for Bakerβs Chocolate Company, which was subsequently named Bakerβs Germanβs Sweet Chocolate. Fast-forward to June 13, 1957.
The Dallas Morning Star published the recipe for the cake, invented and submitted by a reader identified as Mrs. George Clay, according to Whatβs Cooking America.
