In October 2025, a group of children abducted by the Russians during the occupation of the Mykolaiv region in 2022 returned to Ukraine. These children are students at a Novopetrivka special school, and for three years their teacher, Nataliia Lutsyk, and her husband fought for their return.

This marks the first time Ukraine has succeeded in fully repatriating an institution of this kind from Russian deportation.

Today the official roll-out of bans on russian gas begins 🛌

🇪🇺 New contracts for ☪️ russian gas (LNG or pipeline) have been banned since 17 June 2025, meaning no new deals or amendments have been allowed since then.

These are the official dates for the phase-out of pre-existing contracts:

• 18/03/2026: imports under post–17 Jun 2025 contracts prohibited
• 25/04/2026: end of pre-2025 short-term LNG contracts
• 17/06/2026: end of pre-2025 short-term pipeline contracts
• 01/01/2027: end of long-term LNG contracts
• November 2027: final end of pipeline gas imports

While it's impossible since last year to make new contracts, all contracts will die out regardless of what was signed following the dates above.

While this Iran war is giving us more headaches on our energy supply, this has been something that we took way too long to fix,. Considering how big our dependance and vulnerability were thanks to Merkel, I think EU and EU countries did a good enough job to avoid price spikes even if the overall prices have risen. All responsibility should be put on Angela Merkel, or "culona" (big ass) as Berlusconi used to call her.
