According to the latest report from the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), released March 9, 2026, Germany has risen to the world's fourth-largest exporter of major arms during the 2021–2025 period, surpassing China.

Germany accounted for 5.7% of global major arms exports, with a 15% increase compared to 2016–2020. Notably, 24% of its exports went to Ukraine as aid.

The top five exporters were the United States, France, Russia, Germany, and China, together representing about 70% of global transfers. Worldwide arms flows grew by 9.2% over the prior five-year period, driven in part by heightened European demand.
