Lithuania's government has declared a nationwide state of emergency following repeated airspace violations by contraband-laden weather balloons launched from Belarus.
The incursions, which Lithuanian officials describe as a deliberate "hybrid attack" orchestrated by the Russia-allied regime in Minsk, have forced multiple closures of Vilnius International Airport since October, stranding thousands of travelers and disrupting air traffic.
