DRONE FLEET SYSTEM (SETTLEMENT SCALE)

This can be very
useful after SHTF and your group requires drones
Forwarded from Mythic
A functional drone system has 4 core pillars:

1️⃣ Charging & Power
2️⃣ Rotation & Deployment
3️⃣ Maintenance & Repair
4️⃣ Command & Control

If one fails → the entire system degrades.

1️⃣ CHARGING SYSTEM (Energy Backbone)

🔋 Charging Types

Central Charging Station
• main hub
• multiple chargers running in parallel
• powered by:
• solar array
• generator
• battery bank

Battery Swap System (Most Efficient)

Instead of charging drones:
• remove battery
• insert charged one
• redeploy immediately

This is how real fleets maintain uptime.
🔧 What You Need
• multi-port chargers
• battery storage racks
• voltage testers
• fire-safe storage (critical for LiPo)

⚠️ Critical Risks
• battery fires
• overcharging
• degraded cells

Battery management = highest priority safety issue

2️⃣ ROTATION SYSTEM (Keeping Drones in the Air)

🎯 Goal

Maintain continuous coverage with limited drones.

Example: 6-Drone Rotation

⏱️ Rotation Cycle
• flight time: 20–40 min
• swap interval: stagger launches
• always have:
• active drones
• ready drones
• charging drones

🧠 Key Concept

Never let all drones be in the same state.

Stagger everything.
If you have 4 charging, and one in maintenance, your system failed.

3️⃣ MAINTENANCE SYSTEM (What Keeps It Alive)

🔧 Maintenance Levels

Level 1 — Quick Turnaround
• propeller replacement
• battery swap
• visual inspection

⏱️ Time: 2–5 minutes

Level 2 — Field Repair
• motor replacement
• ESC replacement
• wiring fixes

⏱️ Time: 15–60 minutes

Level 3 — Deep Repair
• flight controller issues
• sensor calibration
• frame rebuild

⏱️ Time: hours

Try to have multiple backups, in case many need maintenance or don’t work

Must include:
• soldering iron
• multimeter
• spare motors
• spare ESCs
• wiring + connectors
• propeller stock

4️⃣ COMMAND & CONTROL (The Brain)

🧠 Control Center
• operators monitor drones
• manage missions
• track battery + status

🖥️ Systems
• ground control software (ArduPilot / PX4 Autopilot)
• telemetry screens
• map overlays

📡 Communication Layers
1. control signal (pilot → drone)
2. telemetry (drone → base)
3. video feed (optional)

⚠️ Failure Risks
• signal loss
• interference
• range limits

Always have failsafes:
• return-to-home
• auto-land

Its also smart to have some counter drone techniques laid out

🛡️ COUNTER-DRONE DEFENSE

Detection Methods

Visual
• observers
• binoculars

Acoustic
• listening for high-pitch motor noise

RF Detection
• detecting control signals

🧠 Electronic Defense

Signal Disruption
• break communication link

GPS Disruption
• force drone to lose navigation

🧱 Physical Defense
• nets
• barriers
• controlled interception drones

⚠️ Reality

Most small drones fail when:
• signal lost
• GPS lost
• battery drained

Strategy

Detect early → disrupt → recover or neutralize safely

Anyone who has gone to Skeet Shooting Ranges, think of drones similar to the speed and size.

If you cant hit a Clay traveling at 45-55mph, then you wont hit a drone going 40-60mph

Go the nearest range and practice!
As someone who has never gone before 6 months ago, I shot 20/25 on my first go. If you can get practice shooting clays, then shooting down drones will be similar

SIGNAL DISCIPLINE

Many drones rely on signals.

Reduce Your Own Visibility
• limit constant radio transmissions
• avoid predictable communication patterns
• reduce unnecessary electronics outside
• Scan for drones and keep audible checks every hour to monitor if drones are a risk

Why It Matters

Some systems detect:
• radio emissions
• device signatures

USING YOUR OWN DRONES DEFENSIVELY

Your drones are your best tool.

Defensive Uses

Aerial Observation
• track unknown drones
• maintain visual distance

Area Monitoring
• scan perimeter before activity
• confirm threats

Early Warning System
• detect before it reaches you

🌐 AUTONOMOUS PATROL NETWORKS
Forwarded from Mythic
Instead of manual control:

drones run scheduled missions automatically

🧠 Core System

Predefined Routes
• patrol zones
• mapping grids

Automated Actions

Drone can:
• take off
• follow route
• return home
• land or swap battery
Forwarded from Mythic
Continuous Coverage Model
• Drone A patrols
• Drone B charging
• Drone C ready

Loop never stops.

HOW TO MAKE IT LAST LONG-TERM

Standardize EVERYTHING
• same batteries
• same motors
• same connectors
Forwarded from Mythic
What You Achieve
• semi-autonomous drone network
• swarm coordination (small scale)
• continuous aerial coverage

Capabilities
• 24/7 surveillance
• automated patrol routes
• rapid response deployment

Key Upgrade
• mesh communication
• endurance optimization
• partial autonomy

Biggest Problems
• system failures cascade
• maintenance load increases
• energy demand grows

Focus
• redundancy
• automation reliability
• long-term sustainability
