The Silent Sea is a South Korean sci-fi thriller mystery series released on Netflix on December 24, 2021, consisting of 8 episodes with a runtime of 39–51 minutes each.  Set in a near-future Earth suffering from extreme water scarcity, the story follows an elite team of astronauts on a perilous 24-hour mission to the Balhae Station on the Moon to retrieve a mysterious sample that could save humanity.

South Korea has several Moon Missions, first of them being the successful Danuri orbiter mission launched in 2022, and the rest are focused on a grand plan for South Korea to build a lunar economic base by 2045.

Guess what - their main focus is water ice, which is believed to be trapped in permanently shadowed craters at the Moon's poles, and could be used for drinking water, oxigen and rocket fuel.
