By making this line of spray ops at matching angles to the jet stream to the southeast - they have essentially widened the breadth of its heavy wind stream
By widening the breadth of that jet stream they are able to catch the southern tip of todays lead spray op and start blowing all that material east and northeast - away from Mexico and out of The Gulf - Keeping whatever they are cooking over The Mainland
