One of the towers of the castle of Escalona, in the province of Toledo, collapsed this Saturday to the surprise of the many neighbors and tourists who were in the vicinity of the fortress at that time.
Fortunately, there have been no injuries.
The collapse has occurred as a result of the accumulation of water after the intense rains of recent weeks, as the mayor of the town, the socialist Álvaro Gutiérrez Prieto, explained to the media.
The events occurred around 10:30, half an hour before the "hundreds of visits" that were scheduled for today began.
The collapse has caused damage to 5 cars that were parked at the scene.

City crews in Gastonia spent Saturday evening fixing a sinkhole.
Police closed off part of Osceola Street around 6 p.m. This is near East Garrison Boulevard and Union Road.
There’s no word yet on what caused the sinkhole.
