Swiss startup develops lab-grown coffee with Lindt backing
Food Brewer, a Swiss company, has raised $11 million—including investment from chocolate giant Lindt—to produce lab-grown coffee and chocolate beans in the lab as alternatives to natural crops. Despite the investment, consumer interest remains low, with many skeptical about drinking cell-cultured coffee.

Da Nang City, Vietnam
A freight train derailed on the Hai Van Pass in Da Nang City, central Vietnam, on Saturday morning after running over a section of track broken by rocks that fell from the mountainside after heavy rain, disrupting traffic on the country’s North–South railway line.
Hoang Gia Khanh, general director of Vietnam Railways, said the same day that crews were still working to repair the damaged track and handle the derailment at the summit of the Hai Van Pass.
Preliminary information shows that heavy rain caused rocks and soil to slide down the mountainside on Saturday morning, breaking a section of railway at the top of the pass. A freight train later derailed after running over the damaged track.

Whistler, BC - Canada
No one was injured during a rockslide on Whistler Peak at Whistler Blackcomb on Thursday.
According to Vail Resorts, which owns and operates Whistler Blackcomb, the rockslide happened around 6:30 a.m., before the ski resort had opened.
“No one was in the area at the time,” said Chloe Hajjar with Vail Resorts.
Video taken from the area shows the slide spanned a section of roughly 100 metres on Whistler Peak, between the West Cirque and Monday’s double black diamond runs.
Hajjar said Whistler Peak and the Peak Express Chair will remain closed until further notice while its operations team assesses the situation.
Jeff Crompton, a research scientist at the Geological Survey of Canada based in Squamish, described the rockslide as medium in size after viewing videos of it.
“There are giant rock blocks that have come down,” he said.
