Megantoni, Peru

Pluspetrol, Peru's liquefied gas producer, has halted production of LPG following a rupture and leak on a pipeline in the Amazon region.

The ruptured pipeline was operated by Transportadora de Gas del Peru, (TGP), and occurred in Megantoni district, Cusco region, just a few kilometers away from the Camisea field, where Pluspetrol extracts gas.

Pluspetrol's Pisco fractionation plant has been cut off from receiving natural gas.

According to company data, the facility provides approximately 70% of Peru’s LPG needs.

TGP announced on Monday that it will temporarily restrict gas supply to users in the industrial and electric sectors while it repairs its leak.

PORT FOURCHON, Louisiana

An offshore oil leak near Port Fourchon spilled thousands of gallons of crude oil into the Gulf last Friday.

WWL Louisiana first learned of the incident from a viewer that claimed an oil spill near Port Fourchon was the reason the Audubon Aquarium Rescue postponed a turtle release event last Friday.

A satellite photo from the NOAA taken on that day depicted a "sheen" in the general area.

The Louisiana Offshore Oil Port (LOOP) said in a news release that the cause of the leak was an offshore mechanical failure. Approx 12,600 gallons of crude oil were released into the Gulf.

According to a USCG report to mariners published Wed, there has been a shoreline impact to barrier islands around the Houma Navigation Canal, mariners have been advised to travel slowly and avoid oil spots.

Rundu, Namibia

A vehicle crashed into an eroded sinkhole in the Tutugeni residential area in Rundu this morning after the driver reportedly lost control while reversing from a nearby building.

Traffic officials at the scene said the car veered off the road and ended up in a ditch, caused by severe ground erosion in the area.

The female driver (age not disclosed) was treated for shock by ambulance personnel and is reported to be in a stable condition
