"We will kill civilians": Mexico is engulfed in flames after the elimination of one of the world's most influential drug lords — the leader of the New Generation Jalisco Cartel, nicknamed El Mencho, reports the Milenio newspaper.

What is known at this moment:

— The special operation was carried out by Mexican and American security forces with the participation of helicopters equipped with miniguns, after which a fierce firefight began.

— Immediately after the news of the cartel leader's death, militants declared war and promised to kill civilians.

— The CJNG cartel attacked a National Guard base, riots broke out in eight states, street fighting is ongoing in Guadalajara, and militants are setting trucks on fire and blocking roads.

El Mencho was considered the most wanted man in Mexico and one of the most wanted drug lords in the United States.
