A Dense Fog Advisory is now in effect through 11AM Thursday morning for the Central Valley (NWS).
Thick fog with visibility down to a quarter mile or less will be widespread Wednesday morning.
Clouds roll in Wednesday, followed by rain across the valley.
The new year is expected to have a wet start, so pack those raincoats/umbrellas for any plans you have as you wrap up 2025 and kick off 2026.

MARTINS FERRY, Ohio
A community in Martins Ferry was shaken early Wed morning when an explosion & subsequent fire caused significant damage to multiple structures & at least one car.
The incident occurred at a duplex located at 804 Pearl St. Neighbors reported hearing a loud boom around 6 a.m., prompting them to contact authorities.
The explosion impacted at least 3 other structures, with 808 Pearl St. deemed a total loss & 804 reduced to rubble. The damage extended across the street, melting the side of a resident's car and the siding on another house.
It was unclear if any families or pets were inside the duplex at the time of the fire.

MALVERN, Ohio
An oil well pad exploded Tuesday morning in Carroll County, sending thick black smoke into the sky.
The explosion occurred around 7 a.m. on June Road in Malvern.
The FD said they have the fire under control.
No injuries have been reported.
According to the dept, EOG Resources was actively fracking on the pad at the time of the fire.
Firefighters say the company’s protocols shut down all of their equipment following the incident.

Last night across western and central Ohio, people didn't just hear something in the night skies, they also felt it. Deep, rolling concussive sounds starting around 9:15 PM, spreading across Dayton, Englewood, Springfield, London, Grove City, Mechanicsburg, and West Jefferson. People reported that their windows rattled and some cases their houses shook.
Local agencies and news desks are now saying it was a military aircraft sonic boom with no damage reported, no debris and no emergency response. Wright-Patterson Air Force Base acknowledged high altitude supersonic training, which explains why the boom carried so far.
Wright-Patt isn't just another base. It hosts NASIC and the Space Force's National Space Intelligence Center the primary U.S. intelligence hubs for air and space threat analysis. This is where foreign aerospace capabilities, orbital systems, and emerging technologies are assessed.

For weeks, strange sounds have been echoing through several local neighborhoods. People are losing sleep, and neighbors can’t quite pinpoint the source.
The sound is keeping people up at night. Brendan Marcum says Sunday night was the loudest it’s been in Northside.
“It almost didn’t stop for a couple hours.” The duration varies—from a few seconds to several minutes—and it’s difficult to describe.
“We were hearing this siren-like quality noise, whirring, oscillating, going up and down,” Shaun Herold said.
He & his son, Elijah, started hearing the sounds 2 weeks ago, & they’ve occurred every night since.
The mystery noise has many people talking on FB, speculating about the source.
