TAPPAHANNOCK, Virginia
Dozens of birds were found dead in Tappahannock on Saturday morning, prompting a state wildlife investigation into the incident.
Multiple people posted on FB about a flock of birds found on the bridge over Hoskins Creek along Route 17. One person said officials closed down the bridge at one point to clean them up.
The Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources confirmed they are investigating the incident after being contacted for information.
"The Department is aware and a CPO collected samples this morning," a department representative said.
The cause of the bird deaths remains unknown as officials await further analysis from wildlife biologists on Monday.

McHENRY, Illinois
People in the McHenry area heard what was described as a loud booming sound on Thurs night. Some said it shook their homes; others reported seeing a flash of light.
Police Cmdr. Nicholas Clesen said Fri the dept received some calls about the loud noise & also saw SM posts about the strange occurrence.
“Our officers checked the areas where people reported hearing it come from, but were unable to find anything which would explain a noise like that.”
The dept received no reports of any incidents that could explain the noise, like a transformer explosion or traffic crash.
A spokesperson for the Illinois NG said they don’t have any aircraft that can break the sound barrier, so none could produce a sonic boom.
Weather also doesn't appear to be the explanation either. It was too warm Thurs for a frost quake, Kevin Doom, a meteorologist with the NWS, said Fri.

CN Rail crews were clearing tracks early Sunday morning after 9 train cars derailed near Jubilee Station in Winnipeg.
Early reports suggest 9 train cars were derailed around 3 a.m. on Sunday, a CN spokesperson told CBC News, with 8 cars flipped over on their side and one upright.
The spokesperson said no dangerous goods, fires or leaks were reported. No one was injured, the spokesperson said, and there is no threat to public safety.
The cause of the derailment is being investigated, CN said.
Crews and emergency responders were still attending the scene just before noon on Sunday, according to the spokesperson.

25 passenger trains have been delayed after a freight train's locomotive derailed in Rostov-on-Don. The prosecutor's office has reported on its investigation into the incident.
The incident was recorded today at 3:35 a.m. Moscow time on the Kiziterinka-Protochny section of Rostov-on-Don, the North Caucasus Railway reported.
“The freight train's locomotive derailed. There were no injuries. Train service has been reorganized on the adjacent track.”
As a result, 20 long-distance trains and 5 commuter trains were delayed for up to 4 hours.

A passenger train derailment in southern Mexico left several people injured and others trapped on Sunday after a service carrying around 250 people came off the tracks near the town of Nizanda in the state of Oaxaca.
Federal authorities confirmed the incident occurred on a bridge along the Interoceanic Corridor of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec.
The train was carrying 241 passengers and 9 crew members at the time of the derailment.
The locomotive plunged into a ravine around 7 metres deep at kilometre Z-230+290, on a section of line heading toward the municipality of Matías Romero.
Officials have yet to release an official count of those injured or provide details on the severity of their injuries.
Emergency crews launched a complex rescue operation at the scene.
