WATERLOO, Iowa

Authorities are on the scene of a partial building collapse in downtown Waterloo.

No injuries were reported, and officials said the 2-story brick structure at 325 W. Park Ave has been vacant for years.

"We've got a partial collapse. No reports of it being occupied. The owner keeps it secure. We set up a collapse zone parameter. Right now we are assessing the building," said Battalion Chief Ben Petersen with Waterloo Fire Rescue.

He said the remains of the building aren't stable.

"Debris is still sloughing off, so it's in an active state of collapsing. ... It definitely needs to be brought to the ground to eliminate that danger.”

Officials have shut down the alley as well as a block of West Park Avenue and a portion of lower Washington Street for safety reasons.

"Fireballs over Russia, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan - no, it's not "Oreshnik", but just a meteor shower.

In the evening, bright flashes in the sky began to be noticed over different regions. Rumors about satellites and, of course, about "Oreshnik" immediately began to spread. Alas, we have to disappoint - nothing supernatural.
