New York: A Monroe County Sheriff's deputy was injured after deputies seized several balloons filled with contraband from an incarcerated individual.

According to MCSO, deputies conducted a search of 33-year-old Scott Lamagna after receiving a credible tip that he was in possession of contraband. Lamagna was found to be in possession of four large balloons containing synthetic cannabinoids and tobacco.

When Lamagna was being transported to Central Booking, MCSO said he became uncooperative and tried to pull away from deputies and tipped a deputy by entangling his leg with the deputies’ leg.

MCSO said the deputy fell backwards, fracturing his arm and wrist. The deputy was transported to a local hospital for treatment and may require surgery.
