A sinkhole appeared on the Maros-Bone axis road, precisely in Labuaja Hamlet, Cenrana District, Maros Regency, South Sulawesi (Sulsel).

The 10 meter deep sinkhole was first seen by residents at night.

"The hole appeared in the middle of the night. We have measured, the depth is about 8 to 10 meters. The surface is small, but the inside is much wider, around 5 to 6 meters," said Labuaja Village Head, Asdar to reporters, Thursday (4/24/2025).

Researchers say a minke whale found in the Port of Long Beach & a young gray whale in Huntington Beach both died due to domoic acid toxicity.

This comes as dozens of
marine animals, including an unprecedented number of dolphins, continue to die dt a toxic algae bloom now stretching from San Diego to San Luis Obispo.

The entire shoreline is an extreme danger zone due to a neurotoxin called domoic acid or DA. It's the fourth year in a row that this has happened, and experts say this is the worst yet.

In the past week, there have been more than 50 dead and dying dolphins found along the L.A. County coast. There were 16 in San Diego on Sunday alone.

At this point, experts say they see little hope for immediate relief given how widespread and well-fed the algae bloom is.
