Now, with the release of the so-called Epstein Files β which are expected to unveil the financier's final secrets and perhaps those of his associates β said to be imminent, a lawyer at the heart of the saga reveals why he believes Epstein was murdered.
Speaking exclusively to the Daily Mail, Spencer Kuvin, chief legal officer at Goldlaw Law Firm in West Palm Beach, who met Epstein on several occasions and has fought relentlessly for his victims over 20 years says: 'I can't tell you he definitely didn't commit suicide, but it looks suspicious.'
He points to his personal knowledge of 'arrogant' and 'egotistical' Epstein and the mysterious failings by prison guards in the hours leading up to his death.
'He believed he was going to get out of jail because what he did [in his mind] was perfectly legal, perfectly fine.
'He said to me point blank: "I paid [the girls], they accepted, I didn't drug them. So, it's legal"

The Justice Department is recruiting new attorneys to help defend President Donald Trumpβs immigration and other policies in court, according to public job postings, department officials and legal experts.
The aim is to create a cadre of lawyers with the skills and willingness to back the administration as it gears up for legal challenges on birthright citizenship, sending migrants to GuantΓ‘namo Bay, federal workforce firings, deep spending cuts and more.
The hirings are largely to fill openings created by the high number of civil division attorneys who have resigned since the 2024 presidential election, according to people familiar with the situation, who like others interviewed for this article spoke on the condition of anonymity to avoid reprisals and to discuss sensitive information.
But the effort also gives the Justice Department an opportunity to bring a slew of attorneys who align ideologically with the president into career positions in high-profile sections of the department.
