Duliajan, India

An oil leak from an Oil India Limited (OIL) pipeline caused panic in Assam’s Duliajan on Monday, February 24.

Crude oil was seen gushing out at a high rate in the Solakotoki area, raising serious safety concerns among residents.

The leak occurred in front of the residence of Rupeshwar Gogoi, with a large quantity of crude oil spreading across a vast area. The sudden outflow of oil has alarmed locals.

An official from Duliajan police station confirmed that OIL authorities had arrived at the site to address the situation.

“The pipe exploded due to a fault, causing the oil spill. Repairs have begun,” the official stated. "Efforts are underway to contain the leak and prevent further damage," he added.

WASHINGTON DC

Power has been fully restored to residents and businesses in D.C.'s West End and South Dupont neighborhoods after a massive outage left hundreds in the dark following an underground equipment failure, officials said Sunday.

The outage began Friday when an underground equipment failure led to an explosion and fire on the 2100 block of M St NW.

The damage was extensive, impacting multiple electrical circuits, which made restoration efforts complex.

Pepco initially reported that about 360 customers were affected, but by Saturday night, that number had climbed to approx 750.

Crews worked through the weekend, restoring service to more than 160 customers before announcing that full restoration was expected by Sunday night.

BENTON, Kentucky

After severe flooding throughout Kentucky, a landslide on the side of a road in Marshall Co has closed a section of the road indefinitely.

Marshall Co Road Department Superintendent Roy Wadkins showed FOX23 the damaged section of the road.

“We think it’s a spring under the road that’s building up water,” he said, “and then with the amount of rain that we had, it just gave away. It had a slide.”

Marshall Co Judge Executive Kevin Spraggs said they’re assessing the damage and meeting with FEMA on Monday – hoping to find some solutions.

“We’re meeting with an engineering company to come out and give us some solutions and pricing,” he said, “and then we will reach out to the state and hopefully we can get some emergency funding – some FEMA funding. Hopefully we can get the ball rolling on that and get things done in a very timely manner.”

Kadoma, Zimbabwe

A dramatic scene unfolded in the early hours yesterday near Jangano, just outside Kadoma’s central business district, as a National Railways of Zimbabwe (NRZ) goods train derailed.

Eyewitnesses described the moment the train veered off the tracks, crashing into a waterlogged section of the railway. Fortunately, no injuries or fatalities have been reported.

Initial reports suggest that heavy rainfall in recent days may have weakened the ground beneath the tracks, potentially contributing to the derailment.

New Tehri, India

A few days ago, a powerful eq of mag 4.3 hit Delhi & adjacent NCR at around 5.36 am.

If the intensity of the eq had been a little more, there could have been a major loss. As the Delhi-NCR region and Uttarakhand fall in SZ 5, the danger is greater as Tehri Dam, one of the world's largest dams, is also located here.

The geologists stated that if an eq of high intensity occurs, the powerful tremors can damage or break the dam.

If the dam breaks, it will be empty in 22 min & within 12 hrs it will engulf Delhi NCR, including Meerut. The entire city will be submerged under 250 feet of water.

If it happens, 2 big cities of Uttarakhand - Rishikesh & Haridwar - will submerge in just an hour. Cities like - Meerut, Bijnor & Bulandshahr will be submerged in 12 hrs.

Geologists said that if Tehri Dam breaks, it will be the biggest natural disaster in the world.
