👉A dense fog has descended on the state of Florida, which, according to locals, is accompanied by a strange smell. In an array of social media posts, residents of the Sunshine State have decried its unusual odor, with several claiming it is unlike any fog they have seen, or smelt, before.
👉“I thought it was smoke at first, but it is fog. And it has a smell I cannot describe,” said one Reddit user in central Florida. “It smells kinda like a mixture of gasoline and rubber. I guess. Honestly, I cannot really describe it,” they added.

BREAKING: Significant earthquake of magnitude 5.3 just reported 55 miles south of Carlsbad, Texas, United States
A very shallow magnitude 5.3 earthquake was reported late at night near Carlsbad, Eddy County, New Mexico, USA.
According to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), the quake hit on Friday, February 14th, 2025, at 11:23 pm local time at a very shallow depth of 5 miles. Shallow earthquakes are felt more strongly than deeper ones as they are closer to the surface. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake was probably felt by many people in the area of the epicenter. It should not have caused significant damage, other than objects falling from shelves, broken windows, etc.
In Toyah (pop. 98) located 30 miles from the epicenter, the quake should have been felt as light shaking.

The mayor of Earle, Arkansas declared a state of emergency Friday after a water pipe collapse resulted in a major leak, leaving residents without water.
The leak as of Friday has been fixed, but the town is still under a boil water order.
The 8” water pipe collapsed late Thursday evening, the city’s emergency order stated.
The mayor says there is no water in Earle’s water tower, and the only water the town was producing was coming from a well.
The state of emergency will remain in effect for 30 days. Earle, in Crittenden County, has a population of around 1,800.

City officials say part of the facade of an apartment building on S Main St at E Emerling Ave collapsed on Sun.
The Summit County Division of Building Standards inspected the apartment building on Mon & ordered it condemned "due to severe structural integrity concerns."
By Thurs, the city says, more of the building's facade fell off.
Another inspection by the county "deemed the 51-unit apartment building to be an imminent danger to residents & the surrounding community."
"Based on the County’s report as well as discovering a non-functioning fire panel at the building, the FD & City Service Director deemed it to be an unsafe building, & the Fire Chief issued an immediate evacuation order for all residents of the building," Akron officials said Fri afternoon in a news release.
