SHIPPENSBURG, Pennsylvania

A couple’s landlord was able to get them a hotel room for the night after they were forced out of their 17 S Queen St home after a 50 ft sinkhole opened up.

The couple tried retrieving items from their home, but they were told they could not be there due to the damage being a safety hazard.

Shippensburg FD confirmed the chief had been called to the area on Tues to evaluate 2 structures on S Queen St.

After arriving at the scene, the chief determined there were safety concerns that led to families from both homes being evacuated.

Crews stated a structural engineer will be evaluating both homes and that there are no reported water issues due to this.

A sinkhole closed Nelson Street between Twelfth and Fourth Avenues on Wednesday morning.

“Earlier this morning, city crews responded to a water main break at this location, which caused instability beneath the roadway and resulted in the formation of a sinkhole. Unfortunately, a parked vehicle was affected by the sinkhole. We understand that no one was hurt.”

WHARTON CO., Texas

Crews are looking into what caused a large pipeline fire in Wharton County Wednesday.

The fire happened around 1 p.m. in the area of Highway 90 between East Bernard and Lissie near CR 270.

Highway 90 remained open during the incident and no injuries were reported.

The Wharton County Pct. 2 Constable’s Office said the fire is now out after Kinder Morgan turned off the valves to the pipeline.

Kinder Morgan released the following statement on the fire:

At approximately 12:35 p.m. Central Time today, Tennessee Gas Pipeline (TGP) experienced a pipeline failure resulting in a fire on one of its pipelines in East Bernard, Texas. At this time, the fire has been extinguished, and the impacted pipeline segment has been isolated and shut down. All personnel have been accounted for, and no injuries have been reported.

SONOMA, California

A tasting room on the corner of West Napa & 1st St W in downtown Sonoma sustained damage early Wednesday morning when an underground electrical vault exploded and burst into flames, blowing out the store’s windows and forcing the closure of surrounding streets.

Firefighters received a call about an explosion at the Corner 103 Tasting Room at 103 W Napa St around 2:22 a.m.

Fire crews arrived to find large flames coming from an underground electrical vault that were threatening to spread to the building, a former feed store constructed in 1921.

Firefighters were able to prevent the blaze from spreading into the building, but the explosion and subsequent fire broke the store’s windows and caused significant smoke damage throughout the front of the building.

Fire crews got the blaze under control around 2:56 a.m. No injuries were reported.
