COFFEYVILLE, Kansas

A fire at a Montgomery Co refinery has been extinguished.

KGGF Radio says the Coffeyville FD was called to assist crews a reported fire in the naphtha hydrotreater unit at CVR Energy around 2 p.m. Tuesday. 

CVR Energy told KGGF that employees were evacuated the building to staging areas outside of the plant, and all employees have been accounted for. 

There is no official word on any injuries or extent of any damage.

Company officials will conduct a thorough investigation into the incident.

Emergency personnel are asking people to avoid the area around the refinery.

Firefighters are tackling an underground fire below a street in Nairn.

2 local fire crews have been at the scene for over an hour after smoke was spotted billowing from beneath an access pit on Church St, near Specsavers at the junction with the High St.

Parts of the High St & Church St are cordoned off.

A Scottish Fire & Rescue Service spokesman said efforts to extinguish the flames were continuing.

He said: “We were alerted to reports of a fire at the location at 11.12 am today and remain in attendance. The smoke was coming from a self-contained access pit.”

It is understood there has been no evacuation of buildings nearby, although the SFRS spokesman could not confirm this.

TOLEDO, Ohio

The Andersons is investigating after a grain bin collapsed Tuesday night in south Toledo.

Andersons said the one-million-bushel capacity grain bin, located at 440 Kuhlman Drive, collapsed at approximately 9:10 p.m.

The company said no one was on-site at the time of the collapse and no injuries were reported.

"The cause of the bin failure has not yet been established, and an investigation is underway.”

Kapsoya, Kenya

A train derailed earlier today in Kapsoya, Eldoret City, causing alarm among residents in the area. The incident occurred near the busy Kapsoya neighborhood.

The cause of the derailment is yet to be established, and investigations are ongoing. Residents are advised to stay clear of the area to ensure their safety.

SHIPPENSBURG, Pennsylvania

A couple’s landlord was able to get them a hotel room for the night after they were forced out of their 17 S Queen St home after a 50 ft sinkhole opened up.

The couple tried retrieving items from their home, but they were told they could not be there due to the damage being a safety hazard.

Shippensburg FD confirmed the chief had been called to the area on Tues to evaluate 2 structures on S Queen St.

After arriving at the scene, the chief determined there were safety concerns that led to families from both homes being evacuated.

Crews stated a structural engineer will be evaluating both homes and that there are no reported water issues due to this.
