CAL FIRE Update: Progress on Southern California Wildfires.
In this update, Deputy State Fire Marshal Brice Bennett highlights the incredible efforts of nearly 7,900 firefighters working tirelessly to contain the Palisades Fire and Eaton Fire. Crews are focused on mop-up operations, suppression repair, and restoring conditions to help displaced residents return home safely and quickly.
Weβre also continuing detailed damage assessments, coordinating with local utilities to repair infrastructure, clearing hazards like fallen trees and power lines, and ensuring public safety as recovery efforts progress.

Palisades Fire Update for Friday, January 17th, 2025: Repopulation and Safety Guidelines
The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department is announcing an update for repopulation of communities impacted by the Palisades Fire effective 12:00 PM on Friday, January 17, 2025.
This includes: Topanga Canyon Boulevard from Viewridge to Grandview Drive; all communities off Old Topanga Canyon Road; Fernwood Pacific from Topanga Canyon to the intersection of Tuna Canyon and Saddle Peak Road; unincorporated areas of Monte Nido and Las Virgenes Road between the 101 Freeway and Pacific Coast Highway.
The following zones will be reopened to residents:
-MTN-U028-B: North of Piuma Road and South of Mulholland Highway
-SDP-U029-B: North of Mildas Dr/Loma Metisse Road and South of Baynes Road/Stunt Road
-RRC-U027-B: North of Topanga Ridge Motorway and South of Sylvan Glen Road
-TOP-U005: North of Old Topanga Canyon Road and South of Topanga Skyline Drive
-TOP-U008-A: North of W Hillcrest Drive and South of Hondo Canyon Road
-TOP-U009-B: North of Sischo Drive and South of Valley View Drive
-TOP-U007-B: North of S Topanga Canyon Boulevard/Summit Drive and South of N Topanga Canyon Boulevard
-TOP-U006: North of Robinson Road/ N Topanga Canyon Boulevard/Harlan Motorway and South of Hillside Drive
-TOP-U003: North of Hillside Drive/N Topanga Canyon Boulevard/Greenleaf Canyon Road and South of Topanga Canyon Boulevard
-TOP-U004: North of Hillside Drive and South of Mendenhall Court/Santa Maria Road/Benkerdt Road
-DRY-U026C: North of Saddle Peak Trail and South of Mulholland Highway
All other road closures and evacuated areas for the PALISADES FIRE remain in effect.
Resident access will be through the intersections of Cold Canyon Road/Mulholland Highway, Old Topanga Canyon/Dry Canyon Cold Creek Road, and Topanga Canyon/Viewridge Drive.
