Arizona: The Horton Fire outside Payson, Arizona, is now 8,346 acres but containment has skyrocketed to 80%. There are currently 237 personnel still assigned to this incident, which has transitioned back to a local Type 3 Team from the Tonto National Forest.
After successful firing ops, crews are now in the process of securing their control lines and backhaul of excess equipment has begun. Crews will also be snagging the roads for hazards trees before the forest reopens to the public.
This fire started back on December 14th, and is still under investigation. Kind of a wild January assignment for all the firefighters down in Arizona.
The Hotshot Wake Up
