AUSTIN, Texas

On Saturday, the Austin PD said the 1800-1900 block of Lakeshore Blvd near Town Creek Dr, will be shut until further notice dt a large sinkhole.

The hole, which is about 10 feet across, likely opened up due to an influx of rain, APD said. John Beachy said the hole is related to ongoing utility work in the area.

A temporary plate will be installed over the hole for safety until crews can fix the road, Beachy said.

The Department of Public Works, Roads and Transport in Mpumalanga says the P177 bw the R33 & N17 Carolina to Chrissiesmeer, has been closed to traffic following a bridge collapse.

"A significant structural failure has occurred on the P177, where a bridge has collapsed, leading to an urgent road closure in both directions. This incident poses serious safety risks, and local authorities are on-site to assess the situation and provide necessary emergency services," the department said in a statement.

"MEC for Public Works, Roads and Transport, Thulasizwe Thomo, together with a team of engineers are expected to visit the area on Monday for a site inspection," the department said.
