Authorities have confirmed that a search operation is underway for a sixth individual reported missing in the water. REPORT: San Diego, California, is expanding its homeless campground after some local officials determined the initiative had been a success.

This would be a much better idea if the campground was on an island in the ocean.

The homeless tent city currently has 541 tents but will now be increasing to nearly 800 tents as the city has been operating under budget.

There are currently two lots. Lot O will cost taxpayers $22.4 million for up to four years of operations. Lot B will cost taxpayers $9 million for up to five years of operations.

Four individuals have d*ed at the campgrounds, with one man overdosing on fentanyl.

His body was not discovered until two days later.

NEW: A large portion of the Santa Cruz pier in California collapses into the water, taking multiple people with it.

City workers could be seen still on the pier after it collapsed into the ocean.

A 150-foot portion of the pier started floating away after the area experienced a large swell, seeing waves of up to 25 feet.

Two of the workers required rescuing from lifeguards while one was able to swim to shore.

Two of the workers were hospitalized.

The National Weather Service Bay Area is telling locals to stay away from the ocean, warning of potential waves of up to 60 feet.
