An oil spill has been reported at the Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) loading terminal, SMI, in Bonny, Rivers State.

NIMASA said in a statement issued this afternoon that the oil spill occurred yesterday, Saturday, December 14, 2024.
“The incident resulted from a ruptured pipeline. SPDC has promptly shut down the affected pipeline & deployed containment booms to protect the neighboring communities.

Although the spill has reached the shoreline, the NIMASA is actively monitoring the situation from an emergency operations center. The agency is collaborating with SPDC and other relevant stakeholders to assess the extent of the spill and determine necessary follow-up actions.”

MURRAY, Kentucky

Authorities are informing the public about a report of a smell of natural gas in the area on Friday morning.

The Murray PD stated there have been multiple reports of people smelling natural gas throughout the city. This comes as of around 9:35 a.m. on Dec 13.

Officials with the FD & gas department are investigating where the smell may be coming from.

Police said the majority of the reports are coming from the south side of the city.
