Spain is grappling with severe water shortages driven by extreme weather, while multinational companies profit from the crisis.

Last month’s devastating floods in Valencia claimed over 200 lives and left many without electricity, food, or clean drinking water. Emergency tankers and bottled water donations became lifelines for hundreds of thousands. Although 90% of the 850,000 affected regained tap water access within two weeks, they were advised to boil it or rely on bottled water.

The region has faced a year-long drought, only to be inundated with a year’s worth of rain in just 24 hours. Across Spain, the impacts are widespread, with Catalonia’s farmers battling worsening water scarcity. The escalating crisis highlights the urgent need for sustainable water management in the face of climate extremes.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed optimism that the war in Ukraine could end next year if Ukraine and its allies take the right steps.

Zelensky outlined a victory plan, emphasizing Kyiv’s NATO membership and securing guarantees to deter future Russian aggression. He also welcomed peace proposals from global leaders, including those from Africa, Asia, Arab states, and U.S. President-elect Donald Trump.

However, Trump's transition team has floated ideas of freezing the war along current front lines and pausing Kyiv's NATO ambitions. Zelensky signaled Ukraine's willingness to consider concessions to achieve a peaceful resolution.

Despite a widespread acceptance of the results of the 2024 presidential election, about one in 10 Democrats – or 9 percent – thought President-elect Donald Trump’s stunning victory was illegitimate, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll that overall shows Americans more content with their electoral system and its results than they have been for several elections.

Even though there are doubts from some Dems and the burst of Trump Derangement Syndrome in the day after the election on social media with some supporters of Kamala Harris looking like they were ready for a padded room and the usual pushback from the usual suspects on The View, the mass protests anticipated by some have not happened, CNN noted.
