A section of the Perimeter Highway has reopened after being closed Sunday evening.
Extreme heat caused the road to buckle and heave, leading to the closure.
As a result, the Perimeter was closed from Highway 1 to Saskatchewan Ave for a few hours while crews worked to fix the roadway.
"There’s major heave in the road that looks like scattered rocks as you approach," said one witness.
Another witness said it was a debris field with lots of cars pulled over.
Crews have since fixed the issue, and the roadway has been completely reopened.

MIAMI BEACH, Florida
An explosive emergency closed off the streets in South Beach and sent 3 people to the hospital.
“I hear a boom,” said a bystander.
“I just heard this loud explosion,” said John McCluster. “I guess there was some kind of explosion underground.”
According to Miami Beach Fire Rescue, a manhole fire near Collins Ave and Lincoln Rd ignited a Florida Power & Light Company electrical vault inside an adjacent building at 230 Lincoln Road, at around 7:15 p.m. on Sunday.
“There were a lot of flames coming out. It’s kind of a shocking moment,” said Danny Dunkin.
The fire took over a portion of the building that’s home to Ross and Five Below. “The windows started breaking,” said a bystander.
3 people were taken to Mount Sinai Medical Center with minor injuries.

Strait of Hormuz traffic turns defensive
Vessel activity through the Strait of Hormuz declined sharply over 10–12 July, with confirmed crossings down by around 52% week on week, according to #MarineTraffic data.
Traffic also shifted back toward more defensive routing patterns. Use of the Iranian and Dark routes increased, while activity on the IMO and Omani corridors fell to minimal levels, indicating that operators continue to prioritise perceived security over more direct transit options.
Although no new IMO-confirmed physical attacks have been reported since 27 June, renewed US-Iran tensions and recent IRGC warnings continue to weigh on confidence, reinforcing a cautious approach to commercial shipping through the region.
