WATER VALLEY, Mississippi One person was killed & 2 others were injured Mon night following a house explosion & fire on Thornton St. Emergency responders were dispatched shortly after 8:25 p.m. & arrived to find the residence fully engulfed in flames. Water Valley Fire Chief Mark McGavock said firefighters encountered a fire being fueled by an active gas leak & were unable to gain control of the blaze until the gas supply was shut off. Preliminary information indicates 4 people were inside the residence at the time. One person died, one victim was flown to a Memphis burn center with severe injuries & another was transported to a hospital in Oxford for treatment. A fourth occupant was treated at the scene. The explosion was reportedly felt throughout the city. SHREVEPORT, Louisiana Just after 6 a.m. on June 16, the SFD responded to a reported fire emergency at the Providence House. This fire emergency was called in on Cotton St in Downtown Shreveport. SFD reports heavy smoke coming from some underground electrical equipment on the outside of the building. Everyone inside got out safely, and no injuries have been reported, says SFD. AEP/SWEPCO is currently on the scene helping SFD firefighters find the cause of the smoke. The situation is under control at this time, says SFD. AEP/SWEPCO told SFD that power may be shut off to several blocks in the downtown area this morning, June 16, as they continue to assess the situation and perform any needed repairs. MIAMI, Florida One person was killed & 4 others were injured Monday morning following an explosion and fire at a Miami-Dade Fire Rescue logistics facility. “It shook the whole neighborhood,” Stephanie Galvez, who lives nearby, said. “All of a sudden, there was a loud boom from like behind the house and the house, for a moment, felt like it was shaking and we had no idea what was going on.” Sky 10 was above the scene at 10:40 a.m. as there appeared to be heavy damage to a fuel pump. Miami-Dade Fire Chief Ray Jadallah, meanwhile, confirmed that after the explosion, crews found an overhang that was destroyed and an active fire coming from underground.
