➡️Claude quietly starts watermarking content

Anthropic is embedding machine-readable labels into Claude’s responses, making it possible to identify whether a text or file was processed by the model.

🛑 Invisible watermarks are built directly into generated text. They don't alter the meaning and survive standard copy-pasting.
🛑 Images and supported files receive signed origin data via the C2PA standard. This lets you confirm the file was handled by Claude and verify if it was modified afterward.

🔗 The watermarking is built-in at the model level and applies across Claude, Claude Code, Cowork, API, and cloud partners. All Claude models released starting August 2, 2026, include this feature out of the box.

💬 However, this isn't a foolproof AI detector. Heavy rewriting can strip the text watermark, while file metadata can easily be wiped by saving a screenshot or re-exporting.

Anthropic is currently developing dedicated tools for users to verify these labels.
