Israel Knew Hamas’s Attack Plan Over a Year Ago - The New York Times –

Israeli officials obtained Hamas’s battle plan for the Oct. 7 terrorist attack more than a year before it happened, documents, emails and interviews show. But Israeli military and intelligence officials dismissed the plan as aspirational, considering it too difficult for Hamas to carry out.

The approximately 40-page document, which the Israeli authorities code-named “#JerichoWall,” outlined, point by point, exactly the kind of devastating invasion that led to the deaths of about 1,200 people.

The translated document, which was reviewed by The NYT, did not set a date for the attack, but described a methodical assault designed to overwhelm the fortifications around the Gaza Strip, take over Israeli cities and storm key military bases, including a division headquarters.

🇵🇸 Israel’s Gaza onslaught is the next stage of the Dahiya Doctrine | Mondoweiss – 02/12/2023

The Dahiya Doctrine was coined by current Minister Gadi Eisenkot when he was Chief of Northern Command in 2008. The military doctrine, named after the Dahiya quarter of Beirut that Israel targeted and leveled during the 2006 war, outlines “what will happen” to any enemy that dares attack Israel:

“What happened in the Dahiya quarter of Beirut in 2006 will happen in every village from which Israel is fired on,” Eisenkot declared in Israeli newspaper Yediot Aharonot in March 2008. “We will apply disproportionate force on [the village] and cause great damage and destruction there. From our standpoint, these are not civilian villages, they are military bases.

🇵🇸It’s Bisan From Gaza, And Israel Made All These People Homeless’ | Voices from Gaza - AJ+

Palestinian families returned to their homes, many of which have been reduced to rubble. More than 60% of homes in Gaza have been damaged or destroyed and thousands of people are missing under the rubble.

Bisan Owda, a video journalist in Gaza, followed families in the southern town of Khuza’a as they search for remains of their lives under the rubble. Residents of the town are determined to rebuild their homes after surviving previous Israeli airstrikes in 2014 and in 2021.

This video was filmed during the 7 day temporary ceasefire in Gaza.

🇵🇸 A Palestinian Teenager’s Experience in an Israeli Prison
- This is Palestine | Podcast -

As of the time of this recording, Israel has temporarily halted its brutal bombing campaign on the Gaza Strip. As part of the agreement to “pause” the bombing, Israel is releasing Palestinian kids and women held in Israeli prisons in exchange for the release of Israelis held in Gaza. The vast majority of those released have never been convicted. In this episode, we highlight the story of a young Palestinian teenager who was released by Israel, how and why he ended up in Israeli prisons and the treatment of the prisoners before and after the start of the Israeli attack on the Gaza Strip.

🇵🇸 Gaza doctors seized by Israel say they were used as 'human shields' | Middle East Eye –

For several days, Israeli aircraft kept bombing different buildings and departments of the hospital. Quadcopters were shooting directly at people, including patients and displaced persons. People were killed inside the hospital," Abu Saada, the head of the surgery department at al-Shifa Hospital, said.

"They besieged the hospital for five days before they stormed its departments. They kept us [in certain areas] and threatened us [with getting targeted].

"When they stormed the ground stores, they used us [doctors] as human shields to enter and search them. They found the technical maintenance employees there and interrogated them, before they detained them."

🇵🇸 Israel arrests, tortures Gaza doctors while world watches | Electronic Intifada

We were joined by Tarek Loubani, an emergency room physician based in Canada who has worked for years inside al-Shifa hospital in #GazaCity

He discussed the #abduction and #arrest of some of his colleagues by Israeli forces over the last few weeks, including Dr. Muhammad Abu Salmiya, the director of #AlShifa #hospital.

Tarek explained that the Israelis’ intention in taking and arresting these physicians, and subjecting them to physical and psychological torture, is meant to break the back of the #healthcare system even further in #Gaza.

“I don’t think any of them really expected, especially under the flag of the #ICRC [International Committee of the Red Cross], for them to be subject to that kind of arrest,” Tarek said.

#AbuSalmiya’s arrest, “is a classic example of how the Israeli system works: it took him in with no charges, for no reason, it’s keeping him for a very specific purpose.”

🇵🇸 Apartheid Israeli justice system in West Bank

Israel operates two systems of law in the occupied territories. Palestinians under the military. Israelis under civil law"

A report by CNN's Nima Elbagir sheds light on the controversial Israeli justice system and how Palestinians in the West Bank are subject to the jurisdiction of Israel's military courts, while Israeli settlers arrested in the West Bank are tried in civilian courts within Israel

CNN broke down the numbers in a list of 300 Palestinian prisoners identified by Israel as eligible for release. 80% are listed as just detained, which means they have not been formally sentenced

The report talks about Fatima Shahin, who spent seven months in an Israeli prison. She was initially accused of attempting to murder an Israeli in the West Bank. However, she was never formally charged with any crime

🇵🇸 Testimonies from Gaza : My neighbourhood was vibrant and beautiful. Israel turned it into a wasteland | Mohammed al-Hajjar for Middle East Eye –

Nestled along Gaza's coastline, Rimal was an upscale neighbourhood in Gaza City, boasting ice cream parlours, cafes and vibrant boutique clothes shops.

Today, it lies in complete ruin - a clear sign that no part of Gaza, residential or otherwise, is
safe from Israeli bombardment.

"Al-Azhar University, where I studied for seven years, was bombed. The streets surrounding it were bombed, and buildings inside the university campus were bombed.

My seven-year-old son Majd attended the New Gaza Primary School for Boys. Located on al-Nasr Street, today it has been appropriated by the Israeli army, which uses it to hold residents it has arrested.

As I walked around, I was reminded of the scenes at al-Shifa itself, which were some of the most painful and inhuman I've ever witnessed
."
