๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ธ The Battle of Al Karameh  ู…ุนุฑูƒุฉ ุงู„ูƒุฑุงู…ุฉ | 1968 | Palquest

The battle of Al Karameh took place on 21 March 1968, in and around the small Jordanian town of al-Karama , in the Jordan Valley north of the Dead Sea . The battle involved invading Israeli forces and a combination of Palestinian guerrilla fighters (fedayeen) and forces from the Jordanian army. It was the first major Israeli invasion into Arab territory since the end of the 1967 War .

Although the Israeli army succeeding in destroying the fedayeen base at al-Karama, it suffered relatively heavy losses in the process, and the news of vastly outnumbered and outgunned fedayeen standing and fighting instead of retreating led to a massive upsurge in publicity and support for the Palestinian resistance movement, and Fatah in particular, launching it into the leadership of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) the following year.

The battle thus became a key moment in the development of the Palestinian resistance movement. At the same time, it set the stage for a confrontation between Palestinian guerrilla organizations and the Jordanian state, which would come to a head in the events of September 1970.

๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ธ Fida'i - (ููุฏุงุฆูŠ)

A Tribute to All Palestinian Freedom Fighters!

"Fida'ฤซ" (Arabic: ูุฏุงุฆูŠ, romanized: Fida'i, lit. 'Fedayeen warrior') is the national anthem of #Palestine.

Fida'i lyrics and Translation:

Revolutionary, revolutionary
Revolutionary, my land, land of my ancestors
Revolutionary, revolutionary
Revolutionary, my people, people of perpetuity
With my determination, my fire and the volcano of my revenge
With the longing in my blood for my land and my home
I have climbed the mountains and fought the wars
I have conquered the impossible, and crossed the frontiers
With the resolve of the winds and the fire of the guns
And the determination of my nation in the land of struggle
Palestine is my home, Palestine is my fire,
Palestine is my revenge and the land of endurance
By the oath under the shade of the flag
By my land and nation, and the fire of pain
I will live as a revolutionary*, I will remain a revolutionary,
I will end as a revolutionary - until my country returns
Revolutionary

๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ธ Al Fatah - Palestina - 1970 - Italian Documentary - no subtitles

AL FATAH - PALESTINE
Director: Luigi Perelli
Production company: Ufficio Cinema PCI - Year: 1970

A film on the Al Fatah movement. The documentary shows the daily activities in the refugee camps; it illustrates the political organization of the Resistance in its most important aspects such as the unions, the peopleโ€™s army, the press; it informs on the organization of services, hospitals, schools; it describe military training in the camps; it follows a military action in the occupied territories and finally it reconstructs the battle of #Karameh.

The images filmed in the occupied territories and the testimony of political and military leaders โ€“ among them; Arafat himself โ€“ as well as of the people themselves show a complete picture of Al Fatahโ€™s political and military action.

๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ธ Biladi, une rรฉvolution - 1970

Switzerland - Fr no Subtitles - Documentary | Director: Francis Reusser | 60 minutes

Jordan 1970 : Like a political tract, the film exalts the Palestinian revolution through the role of the combattants, women, workers and children. Revolutionary songs and poems punctuate the people's struggle for liberation. This film defends a cause that was very little supported at that time. 'Biladi, une rรฉvolution' is one of the very first (if not the first) films on the issue.

๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ธ Hamas, Fatah and the history of Palestine liberation | Azzam Tamimi | The Big Picture S3E02

The history of Palestinian liberation movements is paved with setbacks, betrayals and bitter rivalries.

What began as an attempt to unify the resistance against Israeli occupation has over time been undermined by regional and global political interests, ideological differences and disagreements over the justification, and use, of guerilla tactics.

Today the question of who represents Palestinian interests is hotly contested, with Hamas and Fatah vying for control, and a wave of dissatisfied young factions on the rise in Gaza and the West Bank.

British-Palestinian academic and political activist Dr Azzam Tamimi.

In the light of the ongoing violence in Gaza and Israel, and the devastating toll on civilian life, Dr Tamimi explains how these movements began, and why another Palestinian uprising is inevitable

๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ธ A Victory for the Palestinian People ( 1973 Documentary ) - Color Version | PPPA โ€“

Curator's note: this may be the first-ever US published Palestine solidarity poster

This image was used to advertise a 52-minute black and white film entitled โ€œRevolution Until Victoryโ€ that came out in 1973 from Single Spark Films.

Single Spark Films emerged out of the film production company called California Newsreel, after the group split up. Single Spark Films was associated with a Marxist group in the San Francisco Bay area called the Bay Area Revolutionary Union.

The photo might, MIGHT have been taken by noted photographer and Palestine activist Jeff Blankfort in Jordan's Schneller refugee Camp when he was a photographer working with Liberation News Service in #Jordan in 1970-71.

๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ธ We Are the Palestinian People: Revolution Until Victory (1973) Documentary

Made by a breakaway faction of the US Newsreel collective Pacific Newsreel, We Are the Palestinian People (Revolution Until Victory, 1973) edits exclusively archival footage into a detailed, historical reconstruction of the conflict. Great attention is paid to the political genesis of #Zionism, the role of colonial Britain in assigning Palestine to #zionists and the strategic role Israel has played ever since in the control and monopoly of the worldโ€™s most sought-after commodity, oil.

While other titles in the season stressed the internationalist dimension of the Palestinian #revolution by linking it to other #AntiColonial struggles, the same concept is rendered here specularly โ€“ for if #AntiImperialism is a transglobal phenomenon, so is #repression. Incorporated into the montage is footage of general Moshe Dayan visiting Vietnam to learn about counter-insurgency techniques.

๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ธ Off Frame AKA Revolution Until Victory โ€“ ( 2016) Trailer

Origin: Palestine | France | Jordan | Lebanon | USA | UK | Documentary | Director: Mohanad Yaqubi | 2016 - 62 minutes

Note : this is not the same documentary as filmed in 1973, althought it uses some of the same historical video footage

Director Mohanad Yaqubi draws on recently-discovered and archival found footage to explore the tumultuous history of Palestine and Palestinian filmmaking in this timely and insightful documentary.

Unearthing films stored in archives across the world after an unprecedented search, the film begins with popular representations of modern Palestine and traces the works of militant filmmakers in reclaiming image and narrative through revolutionary and #militant cinema. In resurrecting a forgotten memory of struggle, Off Frame reanimates what is within the frame, but also weaves a critical reflection by looking for what is outside it, or what is off frame.

๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ธ The Wailing Wall of Palestine: Black September | 2020

This was the time when the Marxist Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (#PFLP) came into being and would later on achieve a cult status within the Third World and a terrorist one without for their spectacular plane hijackings across the world. This was also the period when Israeli Prime Minister #GoldaMeir had infamously said, โ€œThere is no such thing as a Palestinian people.โ€ So for the Palestinians the challenge was dual: to prove their identity as well as their independence.

Israelโ€™s capture of the #WestBank in the 1967 war meant that Palestinians swelled into tiny #Jordan altering the demographic balance; which in turn meant that the only way King Hussein could remain the head of an artificially-carved country was to rely on #imperialism and Israeli #colonialism this hitherto has been the fate of the two other artificially created Arab states in the region, Kuwait and to a greater extent #Lebanon
