Sareer is a bed. The root س-ر-ر carries both the meaning of a bed/throne and secret joy. سُرُور (suroor) is happiness and delight — sharing a root with the place of rest.

أَسِرَّة (asirra) is the plural of beds. In hospitals: 'asirrat al-mustashfa' — hospital beds.

Kursi is a chair or seat of power. In the Quran, آيَةُ الْكُرْسِيِّ (Ayat al-Kursi) — Verse of the Throne — is the most famous verse. الكُرْسِيّ here refers to Allah's Throne encompassing the heavens and earth.

Simple word. Monumental meaning.

Tawila is a table. The root ط-و-ل means length — a table is a long surface. طُول (tool) means height or length. طَوِيل (taweel) means tall or long.

So when you say the table is long (الطَّاوِلَة طَوِيلَة), both words share the same root — the table's name and its description.

Matbakh is the kitchen — literally 'the place of cooking.' You already know طَبَخَ (cooked) from day 364. The م at the front turns a verb into a place.

طَبَّاخ (tabbakh) is the cook. مَطْبُوخ (matbookh) is cooked food. Three words, one root — all from the kitchen.

Hammam is the bathroom — and historically the public bathhouse, a central social institution in Arab/Islamic civilization. The Turkish hammam (spa bath) still exists worldwide.

حُمَّى (humma) is fever — heat in the body. حَمِيم (hameem) means close friend or very hot water — from the root of warmth.

Sa'eed is happy. It's also one of the most common Arabic names — parents name their children 'happy.' سَعَادَة (sa'aada) is happiness — 'as-sa'aada' is the pursuit every human seeks.

The same root gives you سَاعَدَ (helped, day 384) — happiness is connected to helping others.

Hazeen is sad. حُزْن (huzn) is sadness or grief. In the Quran, 'laa tahzan' (don't be sad) appears multiple times — a divine comfort to the Prophet ﷺ and to all believers.

The opposite of sa'eed. You need both words to describe human experience.

Jaa'i' is hungry. جُوع (joo') is hunger. مَجَاعَة (maja'a) is famine. These words are practical — you'll use 'ana jaa'i'' (I'm hungry) immediately.

In Ramadan, Muslims experience joo' together — building empathy for those who face hunger daily.
