INDIAN NAVY TO CONDUCT FOURTH EDITION OF COASTAL DEFENCE EXERCISE ‘SEA VIGIL-24’
✔️‘Sea Vigil-24’ is a Pan-India Coastal Defence Exercise scheduled from 20–21 November 2024.
✔️ This fourth edition follows the initial exercise held in 2018 and is the largest iteration so far
The exercise involves six Ministries and 21 organisations and agencies, including fishing communities, coastal populations, NCC cadets, and Bharat Scouts and Guides, aiming to enhance maritime security awareness and engage local stakeholders.
✔️It spans India’s extensive 11,098 km coastline and covers a substantial Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) of 2.4 million sq KM

Researchers from the Bose Institute have identified a new microbe called Candidatus Phytoplasma responsible for reverting sesame flowers to a vegetative state
✔️Candidatus Phytoplasma refers to a type of Mollicutes bacteria characterized by the absence of a cell wall.
✔️Habitat: These bacteria inhabit the nutrient-rich phloem and sieve cells of plants, where they derive sustenance.
