😈 Selecting a folder for the library, blocking internet access, and a standalone daemon. Development news for the mobile ADB AppControl.

Update 1.5.0 is being prepared for release, and it’s going to be a major update. In the app settings, you’ll be able to select a folder for the Library so that APK files aren’t stored in ADB AppControl’s internal memory, which gets cleared whenever you uninstall the app itself. Selecting a folder also serves as a backup feature that many of you have requested – when you choose a folder, all files are moved to it.

Another useful feature that no one was expecting is the ability to block apps from accessing the internet. Yes, you heard that right – it’s a firewall feature that lets you prevent selected apps from connecting to the network. There are a few nuances, but overall it works stably and reliably.

After going through the ritual of summoning hard work, I added an ADB daemon. The β€œdaemon” – that’s what background services are called in Unix systems. This small, lightweight service ensures that ADB functions work even when wireless debugging is disabled. It’s an alternative to TCP/IP debugging, but without open ports and more secure.

There will be many more improvements, but you’ll find out about them after the update is releasedπŸ˜‰

πŸ‘½ New surprises from Google are on the way.

In Android 17, the ability to uninstall system apps via ADB was blocked. If you try to uninstall any system app, you’ll see the following console message: β€œonly root can delete a system app for a particular user.”

This is an initiative by Google, not by local device manufacturers. But Xiaomi users will soon find themselves in a unique situation, since HyperOS doesn’t allow users to disable system apps either, and Google now won’t let them be uninstalled. It’s a double penetration strikeπŸ†

So, are you still waiting for the update to Android 17?

πŸš€ Hot Summer Update for ADB AppControl Mobile 1.5.1 + hotfix.

Library folder selection, a built-in firewall to block apps from accessing the network, significant improvements to connection and pairing stability, faster data load via ACBridge, and much more.

Google has blocked uninstalling of system apps via ADB in Android 17. Now, when you try to uninstall a system app, you'll see the error β€œFailure [only root can delete system app for a particular user]”.

I’ve added my own solution to uninstall system apps in ADB AppControl Mobile 1.5.0, but keep in mind that sooner or later Google will shut this down – the company focused on total surveillance and control and won’t stop.

Changelog:
1.5.1 hotfix:
Fixed: Uninstalling system apps on Android 17.
1.5.0:
- Built-in firewall with the ability to block internet access for apps (requires Android 13+).
- Option to select a folder for the Library in storage (PRO).
- Support for uninstalling system apps on Android 17.
- Improved device discovery and pairing.
- ADB daemon that improves the stability of local connections.
- Reworked protocol for working with ACBridge and accelerated data loading.
- Other improvements and fixes.

UPD: Added the hotfix 1.5.1 with fixed system apps uninstallation on Android 17.

Many important fixes. The ADB daemon now runs more stably and allows you to disable Wi-Fi debugging immediately after the first connection/pairing (before a reboot). I removed the option to automatically enable TCP/IP debugging from the settingsβ€”it doesn’t really make sense once the local ADB daemon is running. I also decided to move the feature for selecting the APK library folder to the free version to prevent the frustrating experience of accidentally losing files when reinstalling the app.

Changelog:
- Fixed an issue with the app staying connected indefinitely on older devices.
- Fixed the β€œData Only” app display.
- Fixed the β€œShare” option in the Library.
- Fixed an app crash on some devices.
- Folder selection for the Library is now available in the free version.
- APK file type is now displayed in the menu before saving.
- Improved ADB daemon performance.
- The option to auto-enable debugging over TCP/IP has been removed from the settings.

βš™οΈ Service for enabling wireless debugging.
A simple, lightweight web tool for ADB AppControl users that might come in handy.

Devices running Android 10 and older do not support enabling debugging over Wi-Fi. To work with such devices wirelessly via ADB, you need to enable TCP/IP debugging. To do this, you’ll need to connect the device to a computer using a USB cable and run the standard command adb tcpip 5555 (or, even easier, by one click in ADB AppControl for PC).

I’ve developed a service that lets you enable wireless TCP/IP debugging via a browser right on the website. You’ll need a computer, a USB cable, and a Chrome-based browser.

The service is available via this short link:
➑️ https://adb.li/tcp

The main advantage is that it’s always available on any PC, including macOS and Linux. So, you can bookmark it in your browser.

πŸ“± Update 1.6.0 will introduce a command history feature in the console.

The video demonstrates how this feature works, using the example of disabling Google Play protection.

It shows how commands are saved to the history after execution and how you can add your own favorite commands with an icon and a comment.

πŸš€ ADB AppControl Update 1.6.0
The app now works perfectly on Android 17 with the latest patches (but you’ll need to grant an additional permission).

An advanced command history has been added to the console, shared across devices, with the favorite commands. Also, a new app picker tool has been added to the console - you no longer need to copy package names and app UIDs to insert them into your commands.

Changelog:
- Improved compatibility with Android 17.
- Advanced command history and app search in the console.
- "Select All" option in the app list menu.
- Save multiple apps.
- Block network access for selected apps.
- Fixed ACBridge in the Google Play version.
- Fixed a bug related to apps state.
- Warning if ADB is not configured.
- Please rate me on Google Play :)
- Other improvements and fixes.

New app list filter. Quick filters work as before, and checkboxes let you fine-tune the list.
