😈 Selecting a folder for the library, blocking internet access, and a standalone daemon. Development news for the mobile ADB AppControl.

Update 1.5.0 is being prepared for release, and it’s going to be a major update. In the app settings, you’ll be able to select a folder for the Library so that APK files aren’t stored in ADB AppControl’s internal memory, which gets cleared whenever you uninstall the app itself. Selecting a folder also serves as a backup feature that many of you have requested – when you choose a folder, all files are moved to it.

Another useful feature that no one was expecting is the ability to block apps from accessing the internet. Yes, you heard that right – it’s a firewall feature that lets you prevent selected apps from connecting to the network. There are a few nuances, but overall it works stably and reliably.

After going through the ritual of summoning hard work, I added an ADB daemon. The “daemon” – that’s what background services are called in Unix systems. This small, lightweight service ensures that ADB functions work even when wireless debugging is disabled. It’s an alternative to TCP/IP debugging, but without open ports and more secure.

There will be many more improvements, but you’ll find out about them after the update is released😉

👽 New surprises from Google are on the way.

In Android 17, the ability to uninstall system apps via ADB was blocked. If you try to uninstall any system app, you’ll see the following console message: “only root can delete a system app for a particular user.”

This is an initiative by Google, not by local device manufacturers. But Xiaomi users will soon find themselves in a unique situation, since HyperOS doesn’t allow users to disable system apps either, and Google now won’t let them be uninstalled. It’s a double penetration strike🏆

Library folder selection, a built-in firewall to block apps from accessing the network, significant improvements to connection and pairing stability, faster data load via ACBridge, and much more.

Google has blocked uninstalling of system apps via ADB in Android 17. Now, when you try to uninstall a system app, you'll see the error “Failure [only root can delete system app for a particular user]”.

I’ve added my own solution to uninstall system apps in ADB AppControl Mobile 1.5.0, but keep in mind that sooner or later Google will shut this down – the company focused on total surveillance and control and won’t stop.

🚀 ADB AppControl Mobile 1.5.2

Many important fixes. The ADB daemon now runs more stably and allows you to disable Wi-Fi debugging immediately after the first connection/pairing (before a reboot). I removed the option to automatically enable TCP/IP debugging from the settings—it doesn’t really make sense once the local ADB daemon is running. I also decided to move the feature for selecting the APK library folder to the free version to prevent the frustrating experience of accidentally losing files when reinstalling the app.

⚙️ Service for enabling wireless debugging.
A simple, lightweight web tool for ADB AppControl users that might come in handy.

Devices running Android 10 and older do not support enabling debugging over Wi-Fi. To work with such devices wirelessly via ADB, you need to enable TCP/IP debugging. To do this, you’ll need to connect the device to a computer using a USB cable and run the standard command adb tcpip 5555 (or, even easier, by one click in ADB AppControl for PC).

I’ve developed a service that lets you enable wireless TCP/IP debugging via a browser right on the website. You’ll need a computer, a USB cable, and a Chrome-based browser.
