US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said the US has seen evidence of Chinese attempts to “influence and arguably interfere” with the upcoming US elections, despite an earlier commitment from leader Xi Jinping not to do so.

Blinken made the comments to CNN’s Kylie Atwood in an interview Friday at the close of a three-day to trip to China, where the top American diplomat spent hours meeting with top Chinese officials including Xi, as the two countries navigated a raft of contentious issues from US tech controls to Beijing’s support for Moscow.

Blinken said he repeated a message President Joe Biden gave to Xi during their summit in San Francisco last November not to interfere in the 2024 US presidential elections. Then, Xi had pledged that that China would not do so, according to CNN reporting.

Congress Issues Subpoenas On Inmate Tied To Hunter Biden

Congressman Jim Jordan (OH, Chairman Committee on the Judiciary) and James Comer (KY, Chairman Committee on Oversight and Accountability) have questions about the treatment of a Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) inmate Jason Galanis. In March, the congressmen issued letters to U.S. Attorney Damian Williams (Southern District of New York) and BOP Director Colette Peters seeking information on whether or not there was interference with Galanis’ ability to get home confinement. The interference, the congressmen believe, relates to information Galanis has on his former business partner Hunter Biden. Those letters received no response and now subpoenas for additional documentation were sent today to both the BOP and Southern District of New York.

Ex-Cassidy Hutchinson lawyer wins default judgement against Jan. 6 Select Committee

The lawyer who originally represented former Mark Meadows aide Cassidy Hutchinson before the Jan. 6 Select Committee has won a default judgement in his suit against the government.

In December, Stefan Passantino sued the government alleging that the House Democrat-led Jan. 6 investigation violated his rights to due process and tarnished his reputation for uncritically reproducing Hutchinson's claims about his legal representation of her.

The government failed to respond to the complaint by the deadline, April 15. Instead, it filed a request for an extension on the last day, which was denied.

After this, Passantino's lawyers asked the court to grant a default judgement since the government had failed to plead in the case.
