「恭喜發財！祝各位香港人新年快樂，你們有些人不得不流亡海外，移居英國或其他國家，為現在視之為家的國家作巨大貢獻。我很難過你們要離開香港，因中共大舉打壓香港自由，而北京的統戰朋友是幫兇，在香港作惡多端。但我想祝大家新年快樂，玉兔迎春，喜氣洋洋。希望兔年確會帶來長壽、和平與繁榮。我想感謝你們在移居國家所做的一切，當然尤其是英國，也想向身處香港的各位送上美好祝願。我愛香港。看到發生在她身上的事，我十分難過。但我和許多人一樣堅信，我們會一直顧念你們，而獨裁政權及其所做之事總有後果：遲早會消失在歷史中。我認為香港所代表的價值會比任何地方的任何獨裁政權更長久，包括中共。」
