At least 6 Ballistic missiles were launched at Kyiv around 15 minutes ago. Strong explosions were reported in the Oblast, specifically in the Vasylkiv area (which hosts an air base).
Don’t expect many, if any civilian videos of the aftermath from Kyiv Oblast. The Ukrainian government has heavily cracked down on freedom of press. Censorship is at an all time high.

A Ukrainian drone struck the Yartsevo oil depot in Smolensk Oblast. It seems like we are seeing a more successful Ukrainian drone attack night than usual.

Considering the recent intensified Israeli airstrikes on Yemen, I and others expect that we will begin to see targeted assassinations on top Houthi leaders. The houthis have also been increasingly targeting Israel with long range ballistic missiles, which Israel could use as a reason to assassinate officials.

It’s possible that this will coincide with an offensive by the southern transitional government forces in Yemen, who are currently fighting the Houthis on the ground in a civil war. Already there have been reports of intensified fighting there, especially in the contested city of Taizz.

Additionally, Saudi Arabia is sort of like the Turkey of Yemen, and there were reports of Saudi artillery shelling targeting Houthi positions in the northern part of the country a few days ago. It’s always possible that Saudi Arabia will help the southern transitional government and other forces in an offensive against the Houthis while still maintaining distance from Israel - although there are reports of the beginning of normalization of relations between Saudi Arabia and Israel, but probably not to the point where Saudi Arabia would publicly support Israel in their bombing of Yemen.

Then there’s the fact of the joint American-British airstrikes on Yemen, which could also play a part in a potential offensive. This will continue to upturn relations in the Middle East and create further tensions between NATO and Iran.

While I doubt we will see another Syria situation in Yemen, I wouldn’t be surprised if this part of the Middle East heats up in the future.

The newly appointed Syrian Foreign Minister Hassan al-Shibani announced that his first official international visit will be to Saudi Arabia, following an invitation from Saudi Foreign Minister Pince Faisal bin Farhan.

He expressed enthusiasm about strengthening ties between Syria and Saudi Arabia in a post on his official X account. β€œI gladly and wholeheartedly accept this invitation and am honoured to represent my country on this first official visit. We look forward to building strategic relations with our brothers in the kingdom across all fields,” he said.

This comes as a Saudi delegation visited Damascus on Sunday, meeting with Syria's new leader, Abu Mohammed al-Jolani. According to AFP, they discussed regional security and the trafficking of captagon - a prominent drug smuggled into Syria which has been fueling widespread illicit trade.

The Joint Investigation Headquarters of South Korean of South Korea has announced that an arrest warrant has been issued for South Korea's impeached president Yoon Suk Yeol over his attempt to impose martial law on December 3. Investigators previously sought an arrest warrant for Yoon on Sunday night on charges of insurrection and abuse of power. Yoon's lawyer described this move as "illegal."

This comes after Yoon ignored three summonses to appear for questioning over the past two weeks.

Investigators now have until January 6 to execute the arrest warrant but can request for an extension. However, as the presidential security service earlier blocked investigators from entering the presidential office grounds and Yoon's private residence to conduct court-approved searches.

While it there is a possibility that an attempt to arrest Yoon will be met with resistance, The Presidential Security Service said in a statement shortly after the court’s decision that it would handle the warrant "in accordance with legal processes."

The Israeli Army Radio revealed on Sunday that 40 Israeli officers and soldiers have been killed since the beginning of the ongoing military operation in the northern Gaza Strip which started on October 5 under the pretext of "preventing Hamas from regaining its strength in the area."

This comes as one more soldier and one other was seriously injured during clashes in northern Gaza.

A joint Shia Alawite Taskforce issued a statement announcing the formation of an "armed resistance" against the new Syrian government and threatens to do more operations in the upcoming days if the new government does not "submit" to it and does not stop arresting ex SAA soldiers and anyone that was affiliated with Bashar or his government.
