The IDF has announced their intentions to create a new Light-Infantry Division to "provide security and patrol operations for Israel’s Eastern Border" with both Jordan and the West Bank. The division is dubbed the 96th or “David Division” and will apparently be made up of at least 15,000 volunteer reservists between the ages of 38 and 58. Major General Moti Almoz has been chosen as the Division Commander. He has already reportedly appointed 5 Brigade Commanders, 25 Battalion Commanders, and around 100 of the 125 Company Commanders. Speaking at an event on Monday night, The IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevi said “In this war, we learned that the IDF needs to be bigger, broader, in the face of difficult situations and long wars.”

All 25 of the battalions are expected to enter active service by the end of 2025.
