Earlier today, several Russian Geran-4 jet-drones struck the 750 kV electrical substation near the village of Nalyvaikivka, Kyiv Oblast.

This substation connects the Rivne Nuclear Power Plant with Kyiv, and is the largest substation in Kyiv Oblast. It has not been targeted since February 2026, during Russia's previous winter energy infrastructure strike campaign.

Oleshky direction, Kherson Oblast:

Russian sources report that Ukraine has begun deploying reinforcements to their bridgehead over the Dnieper River in the village of Dachi, using the destroyed Antonovskiy Bridge, and working to further consolidate in the area of the bridge entrance and adjacent residential ruins. This bridgehead has been maintained for over 3 years, since June 25, 2023.

There are also reports of new Ukrainian drone operators being deployed to coastal areas in the town of Antonivka, just east of Kherson City, who are working to increase pressure on Russian logistics in and out of Oleshky. This area of Antonivka has long been largely devoid of civilians, and provides optimal cover for drone operator positions to be set up.

The main forward Russian positions are currently located in the forested areas on the islands just north of Oleshky (46.64763, 32.71897), across the Konka River, around 1.2 km from the main forward Ukrainian positions at the destroyed hotel (46.66135, 32.72017). A large grey-zone remains across most of these islands, between the two respective bridgeheads, where sporadic clashes continue to occur.

The Russian Ministry of Defence issued a statement regarding their overnight drone strikes on Kyiv and Odesa Oblasts.

In Kyiv City, they announced targeting a railway bridge over the Dnieper River, which they say is used to transport troops and military supplies to Donbas.

In Kyiv Oblast, they announced targeting the Kyiv 750 kV electrical substation near the village of Nalyvaikivka, which they say is used to transfer and distribute electricity to military-industrial complex facilities.

In Odesa Oblast, the MoD claims to have struck an industrial complex at Izmail Port used to receieve, store, and transport military cargo and fuel for the Ukrainian military.

They also claim to have struck a cargo ship in the western Black Sea, allegedly used to deliver military equipment and dual-purpose cargo to Odesa Port.

Following last night's repeated Russian Geran-5 jet-drone strikes on the "South" bridge in Kyiv, traffic along both the "South" Bridge and "Patona" Bridge has been closed in both directions.

Additionally, traffic along the Metro Bridge in the direction of western Kyiv has been halted. The other 3 bridges remain open, and traffic is being diverted to these routes.

The New York Times, citing a Russian document allegedly intercepted by Ukraine, reports that Russia intends to use up to 1,000 drones, missiles, and glide-bombs against Ukrainian energy and water infrastructure in winter, especially in Kyiv, Kharkiv, and Odesa. Russia will also reportedly target the electrical switchyards at the Rivne, Khmelnytskyi, and South-Ukraine Nuclear Power Plants.

In Kyiv, Kharkiv, and Odesa, Russia reportedly plans to cut electricity and heating by 90%, while causing significant disruption to their water sewerage system. The strike campaign will reportedly take place in three stages, starting with targeting electrical substation near the western borders of Ukraine used to transfer European-supplies electricity, before moving to hydro-electric power plants, and then targeting nuclear power plants at the end.

In my opinion, 1,000 missiles, drones, and glide-bombs is a massive undercount. According to available information, Russia has over 12,000 Geran-2 drones in reserve, a portion of which they will likely use during the winter for strikes on energy targets. I believe that when counting drones, missiles, and glide-bombs, Russia could use up to 10,000 munitions (mainly Geran-2/4 drones) to attack energy infrastructure.
